Polimi LCA Network

Connected by a common method, differing in skills, together for an integrated approach for sustainability

About us

The Polimi LCA Network was established in November 2024 by initiative of the AWARE research group to bring together professors, researchers, PhD Students and Research Fellows from the Politecnico di Milano who adopt the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology in various areas of applied research and consultancy.

The LCA methodology is one of the most valuable decision support tools for implementing interventions and policies that lead to sustainable development. The aim is to quantify environmental impacts throughout the life cycle of products, services, systems and processes.

The network consists of 16 research groups from 8 Polimi Departments (DABC, DCMC, DEIB, DENG, DES, DICA, DIG and DMEC), counting overall over 60 life cycle and sustainability experts in the environmental, social and economic fields. They cover 11 thematic areas (Construction, Energy and Transport, Agri-food Chains, Materials, Policies, Products and Capital Goods, Manufacturing Processes, Chemical Products and Processes, Facilities and Infrastructures, Methodological Developments, Waste Treatment, Water and Soils).
