The PhD School of Politecnico di Milano is the University’s central governance structure responsible for managing and promoting the third cycle of university education (PhD level). It coordinates and supports the 21 PhD programmes currently offered by the University, providing a shared environment in which research, education, innovation and interdisciplinary exchange can develop and reinforce one another.
The School defines common guidelines and strategic directions for doctoral education, coordinates cross-disciplinary activities, and contributes to ensuring the quality of doctoral education and research. It also serves as a point of reference for PhD candidates, promoting opportunities for training, internationalisation, mobility and collaboration with the research community, industry and institutions.
Main Activities and Functions
Administrative Coordination and Admission
The School coordinates the administrative and organisational aspects of the PhD programmes, supporting the accreditation procedures with MUR and ANVUR, the publication of annual admission calls, candidate selection procedures and the allocation of PhD scholarships.
Transversal and Interdisciplinary Training
Alongside the specialised scientific training provided within individual PhD programmes, the School promotes a transversal training programme addressed to the entire PhD community. Activities focus on the development of scientific, professional and personal skills
Internationalisation and Mobility
The School promotes the international dimension of doctoral education, supporting PhD candidates’ mobility and collaboration with universities
