DIPARTIMENTO DI ARCHITETTURA E STUDI URBANI

Description

This event marks a pivotal moment in exploring the intersection of technology, architecture, and sustainability. We will delve into the intricate factors that define the appropriate technologies. Key considerations include climate responsiveness, cultural relevance, resource efficiency, and adaptability. By evaluating these parameters, architects can ascertain the suitability of technologies for a given context and ensure the sustainability of their projects. Our speakers will share insights gleaned from their extensive experience in navigating these complexities. Through an exploration of their innovative projects, attendees will gain valuable perspectives on the transformative potential of appropriate technologies. From vernacular-inspired designs to cutting-edge sustainable solutions, their work exemplifies a holistic approach to architecture that embraces both tradition and innovation.

Educational project

The seminar series, promoted in collaboration between the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies and Mapei, explores the contemporary relevance of the relationship between architecture and sustainability and identifies strategies and projects to overcome the current and upcoming ecological and environmental crisis. The architecture-sustainability relationship has been explored in various ways over the last few decades, but it poses new and urgent questions that are increasingly relevant. Viewing the architectural project from a perspective of sustainability, which is simultaneously environmental, economic, and social, is strategic not only for the quality of individual projects but for the future of our cities and urban life. The perspective is to enhance the contribution that the culture and products of an excellent company can give to the quality of the architectural design in a sustainability perspective that is attentive to the material, cultural, and social resources that contribute to the quality and durability of the architecture.
