Educational project
The "MOUNTAIN-ABLE Master: Planning and Design for Sustainable Mountain Development" is
an advanced post-graduate course addressed to applicants with a Bachelor's degree or
equivalent qualification earned abroad. The Master?s program is based on the belief that the
Italian mountain areas from the Alps to the Apennines will play a fundamental role in the
construction of the new socio-economic, settlement, and environmental dynamics in the Italy
of the future, in line with European processes for territorial development.
New professional and technical profiles will be needed to plan, design, and manage this
transition while guaranteeing quality and sustainability. Profiles equipped with multidisciplinary
skills and managerial attitudes to define strategic planning processes and design, empower, or
evaluate local-specific projects. Pursuing a complementarity of intents concerning the values
of beauty, sustainability, and inclusiveness is necessary for a safe and sustainable living
dimension. Thanks to the dynamics triggered by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan
(PNRR), the SNAI Strategy, and the National Strategy for the Italian Mountain (SNAMI), and in
light of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) principles
The Master is designed to respond to these needs, with the conviction that the sustainability
and quality of the project must be essential elements for a regeneration and revitalization
process of the mountain areas whose environmental quality has often been compromised by
inadequate programming, planning, and design practices.
