BSc in Electronic Engineering
An Electronic Engineer is a professional figure working in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). With their solid scientific and engineering skills, the Electronic Engineer conceives, designs and creates devices, circuits and systems for the generation, processing and transmission of information. To this purpose, the spectrum of activities in which the Electronic Engineer can be involved is very wide and diversified as their technological background. They can work, for example, on the comprehension and working principles of micro- and nano-metric electron devices, on computer aided design (CAD) of high-performing integrated circuits that employ such devices, on the numerical simulation of intelligent sensors that gather useful information from the world around us, and on the realization of electronic systems that can implement various functions thanks to the synergy between their constitutive components. All this is targeted to many different applications that are constantly revolutionizing the world. The Electronic Engineer can operate in diversified fields and thus it is easier for them to follow natural inclinations, passions, and personal and professional preferences. Indeed, even the work environment where they will operate can be significantly diverse. They can work as freelancers, or be employed in a small industry, or in a multinational semiconductor manufacturing industry, or even in a research centre of international renown. In this exciting context, the Electronic Engineer with a Bachelor Degree has matured the required competences and skills to work on activities leading to high degree of innovation within the society.
The Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering provides students with a broad scientific and technological education on all aspects related to the wide world of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Graduates are able to develop and use electronic methods and tools with an engineering mindset to address common electronic problems over a wide spectrum of applications. Starting from the basic subjects (mathematics, physics, both classical and modern, chemistry), and following with specialized subjects (Electrical Engineering, Automation and Control, Computer Science Fundamentals, Signals and Systems), the study plan provides the students with their first approach to Electronics, via the subjects of Electronics Fundamentals, Analog and Digital Electronics Systems, Microcontrollers, Optoelectronics, and Electron Devices.
During the final semester of the programme, students that do not wish to continue with a Master of Science have the possibility of an internship in one of the many companies working in the electronic sector, so as to acquire specific professional skills.

Graduates in Ingegneria Elettronica are well-trained professionals with robust engineering skills that are appreciated by companies (50% of students employed within 1 month after graduation, and 95% within 6 month after graduation). Graduates in Electronic Engineering are able to cover technical and technical-organisational roles in a very broad range of companies, from the semiconductor and integrated circuit industries to consumer electronics, instrumentation, optoelectronics and robotics&automation industries as well as in other market segments where electronics is not the core activity but is an enabling technology like ICT, Media partners, Aerospace and others companies in the innovation chain.
Graduates in Ingegneria Elettronica, after passing a State Exam, can be listed in the Albo dell'Ordine degli Ingegneri with the title of Junior Engineer.
Subject to academic curriculum evaluation, graduates may be admitted to continue their studies with a Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) in Electronics Engineering. With admission always subject to an evaluation, graduates may choose other Master of Science programmes or 1st level Specializing Masters.
