MSc in Transformative Sustainability

The Master of Science’s Degree Programme in Transformative Sustainability aims to train professionals capable of addressing complex environmental, social and economic challenges through innovative and interdisciplinary solutions. The program enables students to integrate advanced managerial and analytical skills with solid technical knowledge, with particular emphasis on sustainability strategies, technological innovation and the management of environmental and social transitions in rapidly changing contexts.

Graduates are prepared to operate in strategic, analytical and advisory roles, supporting organizations in integrating sustainability into business models, governance and innovation processes across companies, consulting firms, public institutions and international organizations.

Developed jointly by Bocconi University and Politecnico di Milano, the program offers a multidisciplinary approach that combines management, economics and policy with technological knowledge in areas such as energy systems, circular economy and environmental innovation, equipping students to design and implement effective sustainability solutions. 

Students attending Italian University (not including Bocconi and Polimi): selection based on GPA, aptitude test (Bocconi Test, GMAT or GRE), Cv and motivation letter. For applicants holding a foreign qualification, admission to the Master of Science programmes requires submission through the standard MSc application (AY 2026/27), with programmes selected according to the chosen selection round, and a valid GMAT, GRE, or Bocconi online test score. Applications are evaluated based on the applicant’s GPA, application dossier and motivation, and the compulsory test score all candidates are required to pay a €100 application fee via the Bocconi Store.

The curriculum in Transformative Sustainability aims to provide graduates with a solid foundation in sustainability management, economics, and enabling technologies, preparing them for diverse roles in sustainability-driven organizations. The first part of the program covers core knowledge and methodologies essential for understanding sustainability challenges and solutions. The second part offers elective courses and specialized topics allowing students to tailor their professional profile according to individual interests.

Graduates may work as Sustainability Specialists within companies, public institutions, NGOs, and social enterprises, supporting the integration of sustainability strategies, ESG reporting, and the implementation of sustainable processes across the value chain. They may also pursue careers as Sustainability Analysts in consulting firms, financial institutions, research organizations, and international bodies, contributing to sustainability strategies, ESG analysis, impact assessment, and policy development.
