Descrizione dell'iniziativa

Established nine years ago, the Master’s degree programme in Geoinformatics Engineering represents a dynamic and forward-looking response to the growing need for experts capable of transforming geospatial data into knowledge, decisions, and solutions. But how can you understand whether Geoinformatics Engineering is the right path for you? This initiative is designed to provide undergraduate students with the tools to make an informed decision about whether to pursue this field, by exploring its topics, methods, and real-world applications. The activity will address simple but fundamental questions:

  • What are geospatial data?
  • What will I learn during the programme?
  • What skills will I develop?
  • What can I do after graduation?
A series of one-hour meetings, delivered in English, will guide students through the role of geoinformatics in addressing some of today’s most pressing challenges — from climate change and environmental monitoring to smart cities, risk management, digital twins, and AI-driven spatial analysis. The programme will include:
  • Discovering the Master’s Degree in Geoinformatics Engineering (1 hour)
Examples of real-world applications involving geoinformatics skills.
Overview of the knowledge and subjects required to become a geoinformatics engineer.
  • Future: Skills and Careers (1 hour)
Exploration of professional opportunities across industry, research, public administration, and innovative technological sectors, highlighting the versatility and strategic relevance of the geoinformatics engineer.
  • Inspiring Experiences (seminars, 1 hour each, announced in advance)
Talks by alumni, PhD candidates, and external experts sharing their academic journeys, research activities, and real-world applications — offering concrete examples of how passion can evolve into expertise and professional impact.
