The University of Split was officially established in 1974. The focus of the research work carried out by the University is on scientific areas with reference to disciplines characterized by natural, biomedical, cultural, historical, social, economic features of the region as a part of the Croatian Adriatic and the Mediterranean region as a whole. The University of Split is becoming a research university based on scientific excellence by international indicators. It is pursuing its curriculum on the principle of full synergy with scientific achievements, both in areas of fundamental research and in areas oriented to direct industrial and economic applications.
