The Tsinghua school of Achitecture, located in Peking and belonging to the most important Chinese University enrolls only 30 students per year. Founded on 1946 by Liang Sicheng, is one of the best school of architecture in China and enjoys a high reputation worldwide. The School professors are guided by scholars of the Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Tsinghua School of Architecture is located inside the university campus, in the north-west part of the city. Courses are held in special classrooms, assessment rooms, lecture halls, and art studios. The school has academic lecture halls, multi-function rooms, architectural model laboratories, building materials and construction laboratories, building physics laboratory, building environment and equipment laboratory, human settlement environment. Structure of the double degree programme: the double degree lasts 5 semesters for a total of 150 credits (90 at PoliMI and 30 at Tsinghua). The study period can be extended to an additional semester if necessary. You can apply during your first year of Master, while you are studying at Politecnico and if selected you will attend your second year of Master in China. At Tsinghua you will take part in courses and studios and work on your thesis project. The Master thesis usually consists of a written work based on original research conducted by students combined with an original project work to be completed at PoliMi. The double degree design work is focused on a joint theme agreed by the Chinese supervisors. At the end of the programme you will earn a Master of Architecture from Tsinghua University and a Laurea Magistrale from PoliMi.

Structure of the double degree programmeThe agreement provides to attend the first year of LM at Politecnico and the second year at Tsinghua University and a last semester at Politecnico. If you decide to develop at Tsinghua your final work with internship, you must stay in China for 3 semesters. You will be required to pay taxes at the Chinese university, but you will be reimbursed with a scholarship offered by Tsinghua. You will have to apply for scholarship at the time of application to Tsinghua. During your first year at Tsinghua, you will attend lectures and take exams that will be recognized when you will come back to Politecnico. The engineering lectures are in English, but the programme includes also exams about Chinese language and culture. In the second semester you will mainly work to prepare a small thesis that you will defend before coming back to Italy. If you choose to do an internship, you must stay in China for the following semester.During the last semester at Politecnico, you will prepare your thesis with your supervisor, you will defend it in one of the scheduled graduation exam date and you will obtain the LM qualification. You will obtain the Chinese qualification only after your graduation at Politecnico and after sending a summary of your final work in English to the Tsinghua university.
