Founded in 1966, INSA Rennes is a member of the INSA group, the most important French network of first and second level engineering institutes, consisting of 6 schools in France, 7 partner schools and 1 international INSA in Morocco. Research and innovation are the key elements of INSA education, that takes advantage of the experience of its 130 professors. With six internationally renowned laboratories, three technology platforms and many industrial partners, INSA Rennes stands out for two poles of excellence: Information & Communication Science & Technologies and Materials, Structures and Mechanics. With something about 1,800 students, INSA Rennes is one of the best "Grande Ecole" with high-quality scientific training that meets the highest official European standards. Recognized for their excellent scientific education, the "Grandes Ecoles d'ingénieurs" have a very selective recruitment, based on the academic performance of the students. Only the best students can access the INSA Rennes (1 out of 7 candidates is admitted to the first year), on the basis of their curriculum and interview. Students of Politecnico di Milano, thanks to the agreements with this university, can access it without any exam. The courses are provided in French. The education of engineers, both scientific and technical, promotes teamwork and a high employment rate through practical sessions, industrial projects and internships in companies, in France and abroad, for 11 months during the whole period of study of 5 years. INSA Rennes engineers have great job potential, they can find their first job, on average, within 1.2 months, according to 2014 data. 50% of students are hired before graduation.
