Casa Peroni, the New “TWIN Hut” of the Borghilenti Project, has been inaugurated

A New Solidarity Hostel Along the VENTO Cycle Route, Promoting Social Inclusion and Slow Tourism

Publish date

In Castelnuovo Bocca d’Adda, Casa Peroni, the first solidarity hostel along the VENTO Cycle Route, has been inaugurated. Cooperativa Amicizia of Codogno, which will manage the facility, received the keys from the Municipality and Politecnico di Milano, initiating a pathway of work inclusion for ten young people with vulnerabilities, supported by a team of professional educators.

The initiative marks a significant step within the Borghilenti project, aimed at the urban, social, and cultural regeneration of small towns.

The facility embodies the principles of the TWIN model, developed by the research group of DAStU – Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano. The model promotes an integrated approach to slow tourism, combining the reactivation of the built heritage with the social inclusion of people with vulnerabilities, generating benefits for the local community and new professional opportunities.

The term “TWIN Hut”, used for facilities inspired by the model, carries strong symbolic meaning. As stated by Prof. Paolo Pileri, scientific director of Borghilenti project:

The hut belongs to all cultures and all eras… It expresses essentiality, hospitality, warmth, sharing, tranquility: all values at the heart of the experience of welcome and solidarity we imagine for Casa Peroni.

Since 22 November, the facility has been operational and ready to welcome cyclists and travelers, offering an experience based on simplicity, authenticity, and connection. Thanks to the collaboration among local institutions, Politecnico di Milano, and Cooperativa Amicizia, Casa Peroni represents the first milestone toward a possible network of solidarity hostels along VENTO, contributing to a model of territorial development that is sustainable and replicable.
