Context
At the crossroads between Nolo and Via Padova
The Off Campus space, housed for years inside the Municipal Market in nearby Nolo, recently moved to the Cascina Turro building in “Governo Provvisorio” square, and has thus become “Off Campus Provvisorio”. Originally focused on Nolo, a neighborhood undergoing a process of renewal triggered by its proactive community of residents, the new space draws on established experiences while also exploring new paths. Located at the crossroads of two vibrant but often disconnected neighborhoods, this Off Campus engages with diverse and often contrasting local dynamics, ranging from social fragility to creative impulses, from exclusion to urban gentrification.
Topics
Social and “proximity” innovation
Off Campus Provvisorio aims to be a hub for activating social innovation processes within the local community, with a particular focus on local (or “proximity”) economies. New projects work in synergy with the development of local informal resources to foster the co-design of valuable initiatives for the local area, fostering action and engagement among individuals and neighborhood communities. The primary focus of research, designing, and action in this Off Campus is rethinking the food supply chain, with a particular focus on promoting a circular economy related to food, waste reduction, and sustainable consumption models. Other topics addressed include the quality of public space through micro-projects, common goods, and participation tools aimed at fostering active citizenship.
Collaborations
Cascina Turro
Off Campus Provvisorio collaborates with the COMIN and B-CAM cooperatives, particularly within the "Reciprocittà in Azione" initiative, which aims to promote Cascina Turro as a "different" space, one that goes beyond the logic of assistance and opens the door to community development, mutual aid networks, and empowerment programs
