Description
The course aims to train designers that can develop their creativity, integrating it with
cycles of academic lectures, experiencing the whole process of design as in the style
centers of the world of the car design, from the definition of the exterior design to the
development of the interiors and to the study and the choice of materials and colors,
from the physical modeling with clay to the digital modeling. The study plan includes
lessons taught in Italian language when it could be the best choice to deal with
characteristics of the Italian way to industrial design.
Educational project
The Specializing Master in "Transportation & Automobile Design" is the
Car Design course of Politecnico di Milano that aims to train a designer
with a complete vision of the design process as commonly in use at major
automobile Style Centers. The world of automobile and his design culture
show a big complexity and specificity, that cannot disregard by the
comprehension of the entire system of the style process. This awareness
helps and allows the interaction among all elements that contribute to
solve economic, technical, stylistic and marketing problems. A new car
must be designed in its technical, social and economical context, at least
three years in advance. This course means to train excellent car
designers, but even more it has the goal to transfer a wide range of
competencies which are not commonly taught in the standard university
courses.
Requirements
The enrollment at the Specializing Master in Transportation & Automobile Design
requires a University Diploma, a Bachelor of Science degree, or Master of Science
degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
Anyhow, Board has the right to consider the enrollment of candidates holding the
above mentioned titles in other disciplines. For those who graduated not in Italy,
equivalent study titles will be considered if recognized in the respective course of
studies.
