Descrizione dell'iniziativa
Major sporting events can represent important opportunities for urban and social regeneration for the communities and territories involved. In the coming years, Italy will host several sporting events of great significance, starting with the upcoming Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics, the Mediterranean Games and the America’s Cup in 2027, and the UEFA European Football Championship in 2032. This demonstrates how sport increasingly represents, also for our country, an extraordinary tool for innovation and a driver of investment. All this is reflected, on a global scale, in the growing need to create highly specialized professionals who can work in the sports industry in all its dimensions: from the management of sporting events and match-days, to the design, construction and management of sports infrastructures, sustainability management, facility management, ticketing and hospitality management, social inclusion, and more. This specialization can be achieved through excellence training programs such as those offered by the Politecnico di Milano, which was among the first institutions to launch the International Master in Sport Design and Management (https://master.sportdesignandmanagement.it/).This mini-series of meetings aims to provide a brief insight into the major sporting event of the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics from the different perspectives of those who are experiencing it firsthand: from organizational and managerial aspects to infrastructure and their management.
