The University of Oulu is an international science university that creates new knowledge, well-being and innovations for the future through research and education. It was founded in 1958, is one of the largest and most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. The main focus areas are: Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, Humanities, Science, Technology, Medicine, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Education and Business. There are two campuses: the main one of Linnanmaa is located about five kilometres north of the centre of Oulu, Kontinkangas Welfare Campus is located in connection with the University Hospital of Oulu.
