Founded in 1306, the University of Orléans (UO) is one of the oldest European universities. The creation of a campus in the South of Orléans dates back to the1960s. Since then, it has developed and expanded in the administrative departments in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The campus of Orléans is located 100km from Paris, in the capital of the Centre-Val de Loire region, at the heart of the Val de Loire, a territory listed in the UNESCO's World Heritage and famous for its castles. The University of Orléans has also developed in other sites of the region with university centres in Bourges, Chartres, Châteauroux, Issoudun, Blois and Tours-Fondettes. UO is characterized by its multidisciplinary nature. It hosts different Colleges, Institutes and Schools including Engineering School (Polytech). UO also benefits from an ecosystem of scientific excellence with several research units. Its training offer is developed in close connection with research. The facilities for welcoming and helping students and adults to enter the job market help to make UO a major player in regional development. UO international vocation is confirmed with a good percentage of students of foreign nationality and dozens of countries represented. Every year its international focus gets stronger. Its capacity for innovation is reflected in the dynamism of the research it leads and in the technology transfers to regional, national and international companies. Sports, theatre, radio, international solidarity, scientific dissemination, promotion of foreign cultures, music etc.. are only some of the hundred associations or clubs that animate the university campuses.
