On April 25, 1962, a group of university professors and representatives of commerce and industry founded the Universitdad de Lima (ULIMA), a private, autonomous and non-profit academic institution. The philosophy that inspired the founding of the University is oriented toward the pursuit of scientific truth and the preparation of highly trained professionals with humanistic culture and criteria for continuous updating and improvement. One of ULIMA priorities is to train students in ethical standards and democratic principles. ULIMA teaches several programmes belonging to different faculties. The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture includes Architecture, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Systems Engineering. The university has a number of research and innovation labs and institutes and it also offers over 50 artistic and sports workshops.
