The University of Iceland (HI) was founded in 1911 and is Iceland's oldest and largest university - a progressive educational and scientific institution, renowned in the global scientific community for its research. It is a state university, situated in the heart of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Academic freedom is the cornerstone of the University, promoting critical thinking, a creative pursuit of knowledge, tolerance, and progress.
