The Hochschule Düsseldorf (HSD) was founded on 1 August 1971, combining several renowned regional educational institutions in Düsseldorf. Capital of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia is a vibrant and modern city, characterized by many green spaces, parks that line the Rhine river, where it is easy to find small quiet spots and relaxation away from the central districts. Due to its proximity to the Netherlands, Belgium and the city of Cologne, it can be said that it is in a strategic position in Europe. The HSD is today one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and offers a complete and interdisciplinary range of subjects. Education and research have a strong practical and interdisciplinary approach. The contents of the courses are always linked to practical work requirements in commerce, industry and research. Therefore, the practical aspects are effectively an integral part of the university's study programs. HSD has contacts with companies and institutions that offer internships and part-time jobs in Germany and abroad, particularly in engineering, social and cultural sciences and business studies. The University has about 80 European university agreements and about 30 international ones and actively promotes the international exchange of students and teachers by participating in congresses and summer schools. The exchange of students, teachers and administrative staff is one of the fundamental questions to promote the life of an international campus in which, among other things, the different clubs, groups and institutions offer the possibility to participate in interesting and various activities.
