Pontifical Universidad Católica de Chile founded in 1888, is one of the oldest and well-recognized private institutions in Chile and at the top of the world rankings of the best universities. The first university in the country to offer an Architecture programme, after only six years since its establishment, it has also a Pritzker Prize assigned to one of its alumni, Alejandro Aravena. Today, it is one of the largest institutions in the country with several campuses in Santiago and Villarica, 30,000 students, and 32 schools and institutes. UC aims at a solid education based on sciences, arts, humanistic subjects and Catholic principles. Its mission is to train students who are not only technically and scientifically properly formed, but also open to different human realities and to social and personal responsibilities involved in the complete development of a society.
