Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech) was founded in 1905 as the development of modern industry in Japan was beginning to gain momentum. it was created for the purpose of developing the industries of the central region of Japan and for encouraging people to pursue careers in industry. In 1949 it merged with Aichi Prefectural College of Technology and became a national university under the name it still has. NITech is a leading engineering institution that continuously develops to become a more unique and more attractive institute of higher learning, while keeping in mind its long tradition and social mission. As a national engineering college located in Japan¿s largest industrial area, NITech has always worked closely within society and with industry, and has continuously made great efforts for the creation of numerous excellent academic technologies along with the education of talented human resources. NITech was originally organized into five divisions: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Textiles, and Dyeing but today Now NITech has become one of the largest engineering institutes in Japan covering almost all fields of engineering, and continues to substantially contribute to society. NITech¿s fundamental mission is to hereafter develop innovative academic technologies, foster talented human resources and enlighten society in order to serve as a foundation of new industry and culture NITech is located in NAGOYA, the 3rd-largest metropolitan area following Tokyo and Osaka. Nagoya is in central Japan, one of the top industrial areas in the world. The main campus of NITech is located in the heart of the city, next to Tsuruma Park and it has easy access to the central shopping area, offering students a convenient and relaxing campus life.
