Kyoto City University of Arts (KCUA) has the longest history in Japan as a public art university. KCUA has established itself as a comprehensive and advanced art research and educational institution committed to the further development of free and creative spirit and taking a responsibility for forming the future generations. The Faculty of Fine Arts attracts and educates outstanding artists and professionals who can contribute to the creative fields of art, design and craft through a highly professional and cross-departmental education, reinforced with the unique and various research possibilities that only the ancient city of Kyoto can offer. The department of design of the school mainly focuses on visual, environmental and product design.
