Preserving Traditions While Continuing to Evolve. Keio University's motto summarizes its mission: to be an source of inspiration and an example for the whole nation starting from its hystory. Founded in 1858 and known as the oldest institute of modern higher education in Japan, Keio counts about 33.000 students and is located in Minato, Greater Tokyo area, one of the world's largest metropolitan areas. Keio's distinctive characteristic lies in its contribution to Japan's modernization by sending out individuals who are instilled with the spirit of independence and self-respect (dokuritsu - jison in japanese). The primary educational focus is on drawing out the inherent talent of each student, and awakening their ability to pose questions independently and work to solve them using jitsugaku, that means solving issues by thinking critically from a scientific approach in order to reveal the empirical truth. The school provides a flexible structure, so that students can freely cross the boundaries between different fields of research. Keio's aim is to foster the capacity not only to produce innovative world-class research, but to provide the society with leadership.

DOUBLE DEGREE EXTRA UE

The agreement is open between the Engineering Schools of Politecnico di Milano and the Graduate School of Science and Technology of the Keio University Structure of the double degree program Once you have completed the 1st year of the LM at Politecnico di Milano, you will acquire the right to attend the 1st and 2nd year of a Master of Science course at Keio University, thanks to the Double Degree agreement. You will have to attend courses and any other didactic activities planned, up to reach a total of 120 credits, including the graduation work. According to the agreement, 60 of the 120 credits received at the partner university are recognized as equivalent by the professor of reference for the international mobility of your study programme at Politecnico di Milano. Once you have finished your academic career at Keio University, you must come back to Politecnico di Milano and submit your graduation work. The final work is a personal work and it is produced under the supervision of two supervisors, one from Politecnico di Milano and one from the partner university, and it must be discussed in both institutions. At the end of the Double Degree project, you will obtain the LM of Politecnico di Milano and the Msc title at Keio University.
