
The Technische Universität Chemnitz, (TU Chemnitz) is a public university in Chemnitz, Germany. The third largest city in its Land after Leipzig and Dresden, Chemnitz is located in the south-central part of Saxony, not far from the border with the Czech Republic. With over 800 years of history, the city of Chemnitz offers an exciting experience and complete, thanks to its historical, cultural and elegant art nouveau architecture. With more than 11,000 students, TU Chemnitz is the third largest university in Saxony. It was founded in 1836 as Königliche Gewerbeschule (Royal Mercantile College) and was elevated to a Technische Hochschule, a technology university, in 1963. It is organized into the following 8 faculties: Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Engineering electrical and computer science, Faculty of Mathematics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Literature and Philosophy, Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences. With approximately 1,500 employees in science, engineering and management, TU Chemnitz is among the most important employers in the region.
