How to request a certificate with stamp duty (in Italian and in English).
To request a certificate of enrolment / qualification related to a Specializing Master or a Postgraduated Programme of Politecnico di Milano, please write to: firstname.lastname@example.org
To request enrolment or academic career certificates for Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science), Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) and Individual Programmes, you must use the Online Services and pay the fees online.
Certificates are issued in two types:
- paper certificates with stamp and holographic signature
- digital certificates with digital signature
Attention: to issue digital certificates, it is necessary to indicate their intended use, specify certificate recipients, and submission reason (in the language of the certificate requested). Without this information, it is impossible to issue the certificate.
The essential and mandatory data includes:
- document recipient
- document use (in the language of the certificate requested)
- reason (in the language of the certificate requested)
to link the payment of the stamp duty to the individual use of the certificate.
Please note that certificates issued in digital format have a value only if used as a file. It is advisable to ascertain if the certificate recipient accepts this format before the request.
Only certificates intended for entities other than the Public Administration or Public Service Providers can be issued. For the latter, those interested can submit self-certification. [art. 15 of law 183/2011 - in force from 01/01/2012]
Access the Online Services and select the function "Request certificates and self-certification" in the "Data" section, identify the type of certificate you want among those available. There is a note field to express special needs, in which case you may be contacted before the certificates are issued.
You can choose to receive the certificates in different ways:
- collect the paper certificate at Politecnico di Milano Campus distribution points. In this case, only the payment of stamp duty under the law is required. To collect the certificate, you must show a valid identity document. Photocopies or copies shown on different media (phone, tablet etc. ) are not allowed;
- receive the paper certificate at home, in this case in addition to the cost of stamp duty under the law, shipping costs must be paid;
- download independently from the Online Services the certificate in "digital format."
If you have chosen to collect the certificate at Politecnico this is the list of the collection points with days and opening hours:

If you cannot come personally to collect the document, you can delegate a trusted person who will have to bring the following documents:
- a copy of the student's ID
- your original identity document - photocopies or documents shown on different media (phone, tablet etc...) are not allowed
- a proxy statement signed by the student for whom the certificate is being collected
The proxy form can be downloaded in the section Forms section.
Under Italian law, citizens may self-certify data held by the Public Administration. You might obtain a guided self-certification for your academic career through the Online Services > Data > Certificate and self certification request.
If you want a pre-set form you can complete yourself, you can download it in the section Forms of this site ("Substitute declaration of certification").
According to the Consolidated Act on administrative documentation (Presidential Decree no. 445 of December 28, 2000), it is possible to submit self-certifications or substitute declaration of certification to public administrations or bodies without the need to submit the certificate later. The public administration must accept them but may check and verify the truthfulness of their content. You can submit a self-certification for enrolment in registers or lists kept by the public administration and certify the qualification held, exams taken and student status. In these cases, the signature does not have to be authenticated and the declarations can be used only in dealings with public administrations.
