Presentation

The IDEA League is a strategic alliance between ETH-Zürich, TU-Delft, RWTH Aachen, Chalmers University e Politecnico di Milano, all leading European technical universities.

The aim of the network is to strenghten the links between technology, science and society. Thanks to collaboration between the partners, the IDEA League fosters the sharing of a collective wealth of knowledge, experience and resources and it aims to connect and inspire a new generation of European science and technology graduates, champion innovation and entrepreneurship and steer Europe towards a more competitive and inclusive future.

IDEA League promotes programs and projects for students, PhD students, researchers, faculty and staff of the partner universities in order to  furthers enhance their abilities and competences. 

Student Opportunities

Research Grants

They are are aimed at PhD students regularly enrolled in a PhD program at Politecnico di Milano and who are interested in spending a short-term research exchange at one of IDEA League partner universities, for example for the development of experimental and / or theoretical parts of their doctoral thesis. Summer School

They are aimed at students regularly enrolled in a Master's or PhD program at Politecnico di Milano. The objective of the School is to allow its participants to explore current research issues and develop both academic knowledge and soft skills. Challenge Programme

It consists of 4 modules hosted by 4 IDEA LEAGUE partner universities. It is aimed at students with excellent academic perfomances and interested in future leadership roles. More information are available at the dedicated page of the international mobility section. Politecnico di Milano and TU-Delft jointly organize one of the modules, hosted at POLIMI Lecco campus.

IDEA League encourages collaboration among colleagues at partner universities on issues related to academic life, research, or new initiatives, with the goal of solving common problems, removing barriers, implementing projects, and pursuing innovative research. For this reason, IDEA League facilitates numerous working groups that foster close collaboration, knowledge sharing, and broad involvement of faculty from partner universities.

Politecnico di Milano has issued a call for the assignment of research funds for visiting periods at IDEA League partner universities. The call aimed at young researchers who obtained their PhD degree no earlier than 1 January 2016 with deadline noon, Tuesday 27 June 2023.

Opportunities for Non-Academic Staff

IDEA League supports the collaboration between non-academic staff members of the partner universities. IDEA League fosters relationships between colleagues, to help them in their professional growth: thanks to the sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices non-academic staff will be able to improve their skills and expand their problem-solving abilities. For this reason, IDEA League facilitates several working groups that encourage close interaction and broad involvement of non-academic staff of partner universities.
