Best Paper at ASME Turbo Expo 2023

International recognition for a study carried out at the Department of Energy

During the ASME Turbo Expo 2023 conference held in Boston, researchers from the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano, Paolo Gaetani and Andrea Notaristefano, along with three colleagues from the University of Florence (Roberto Pacciani, Michele Marconcini, and Lorenzo Pinelli), were honored with the prestigious Best Paper Award, awarded by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for their outstanding contribution to the gas turbine sector and the high quality of their scientific work, titled "The Effects of Swirling Flows in Entropy Wave Convection Through High Pressure Turbine Stage”.

Paolo Gaetani, full professor at the Department of Energy, stated: 

This award is an important validation of the value and relevance of the research we are conducting in our Department. It is an honor to be recognized by the international turbomachinery community.

Andrea Notaristefano, a Ph.D. student and research fellow, added: 

We are grateful for this recognition and will continue to work towards promoting excellence and innovation in the field of gas turbines, contributing to technological and scientific advancement.
