Description

The event will be divided into three parts: (1) an introductory section on the AP+A Pro-adaptive Areas Productive Areas project; (2) a second part dedicated to the illustration of applied experiences in the field and (3) a third consisting of a round table discussion. The first part will be curated by the professors of the Polytechnic and will focus on the approach and developments of the AP+A project funded by MASE and implemented between 2021 and 2022 in two pilot municipalities in the Milan metropolitan area. In the second part, the administrators and technicians of the Municipality of Pero Comuni will illustrate in detail their direct experience started on the occasion of the variant of the PGT, on the occasion of which a participatory process focused on local production areas was launched. Finally, the round table will address two main topics, extending the discussion to representatives of other institutions and categories, namely: challenges and needs of production areas in a context of growing responsibility and urgency in the face of climate change and ways to deal with them, both from the point of view of planning and collaborative governance. After the round table, we will give space to questions to fuel a debate with the public.

Educational project

The event aims to illustrate the role and contribution of local authorities and professionals in promoting the progressive transition towards sustainability and adaptation of production areas to climate change through urban planning and urban and architectural design. Specifically, the seminar will present and discuss regulatory tools for the transition of production areas. In particular, the experience gained by the Municipality of Pero, the Metropolitan City of Milan, will be presented as part of the Variation to the PGT, in which the theme of sustainable and pro-adaptive regeneration of production, industrial and commercial areas was explored, intended as places to experiment with planning and design solutions and tools aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Requirements

The seminar is aimed at professionals in architectural and urban design and urban planning; it is also open to university students of architecture and urban planning.
