Description of the initiative

The course is structured as a cycle of five/six seminars, held by Lucio Valerio Cioffi, director of Leonardo S.p.A. until the end of 2023 and General Manager until May 2023.The initiative aims to analyze the evolution of Project design as the complexity of systems increases, address the origin of System Engineering, the importance of the Team and the consequent management of multidisciplinarity. It proposes the complex analysis of the integration of ideas and contributions in a variable and chaotic external context, the value of human resources and crisis management. The gradual shift from Engineer to Responsible... from "Boss" to "Manager" up to the "construction" of the Leader.The course will have the following development in terms of topics covered, not necessarily in order: The Design of complex systems, The Phases of Design in the Aerospace world (times, processes, actors, Life Cycles), from the operational need to the product. The decision-making process and the sensitivity to errors, the management of the Reviews.The experience of the M346 Advanced Trainer Aircraft, from the vision to the Product specifications, from the specifications to the Flight.The exogenous context, the crisis and its management, the success curve, the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) model, Agile Thinking. The BANI model (Brittleness, Anxiety, Non-linearity, Incomprehensibility) (strengths and differences from the VUCA).The characteristics of Leadership, Management styles (Verbal, Non-verbal), Leadership quadrants, the complex management of "Management Styles": Leader or Manager?The construction of one's own Leadership model (Self Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness).The unstable formula for success: Leadership and Management from some examples of Our Past History. Motivation, choices, culture and vision, team management.
