Description of the initiative

The international workshop, connected to the Master in Kids&Toys by Politecnico di Milano, aims to redesign the experience of soap bubbles from a contemporary and futuristic perspective, with the goal of defining new user-desirable and circularity-oriented products and services.
Participants will be immersed in an international context and will have the opportunity to respond to a real brief with one of the leading companies in the industry: Dulcop.
The broad brief will involve redefining product elements from a circularity standpoint, as well as service aspects, potential digital experiences, and communication elements. Participants will work in mixed groups and will have the option to participate both in person and remotely.The aim of the workshop is to test a new learning experience for a selected panel of students in design with a specific focus in develop innovative product service systems for kids.
The International workshop offers a great opportunity of experimentation and creativity, by exploring the remote working, involving experts and passionate participants, and promoting international cooperation.The International Workshop will be organized following the three main phases of the design thinking process. In the first two phases will be a couple of 48 hours of Hackathons during which students from different universities can cooperate and exchange knowledge.
The workshop will start the 3rd July 2023 and will end on 28th July 2023 (4 weeks in total).

Activities
> Research (3-7 July 2023) Students start the workshop with some research activities in order to have a first overview of possible scenarios of innovation, the needs of users and what the market is offering.
> Concept Generation (10-14 July 2023) Based on the research activity performed there will be a brainstorming session to develop a large number of concepts for new products under the general brief proposed and the opportunity area framed. Each team will select from the brainstorming 4-5 concepts that will be presented the 17th July. In this second stage of the design thinking journey there is also going to be the second HACKATHON with the aim to boost and empower the creativity of the teams with an international perspective.
>  Concept development (17-28 July 2023) Thanks to the input and the interests of the partner 1 or 2 concepts will be further developed in terms of Product Service System.
At the end of this phase Dulcop will decide if there is a concept with a potential commercial development. In case of interest Dulcop will recognize a prize for students for industrial development rights.

Expected Outputs
Students will work in team with 1 professor (coach/s) and each team will prepare:
- a virtual presentation of the RESEARCH that includes the scenario of innovation (main topics from the research activity). Each team will have 10 minutes to present the results.
- a virtual presentation of the CONCEPTS: overview of the brainstorming and the 4-5 concepts selected (description of the product with the main features). Each team will have 10 minutes to present the work done;
- a virtual presentation of the 1 or 2 PROJECTS developed in terms of Product Service System with a clear explanation of the characteristics of the product, the communication features, and the service elements (included the digital interactions, contents, playing experience, etc.). Each team will have 10 minutes to present the work done.   Students can also provide a final dossier with a collection of more information, details and materials developed during the workshop and useful for the company to take decisions for future developments.
