Description of the initiative

Various studies have shown how exposure to beauty sets the inner world in motion, moving emotions and contributing to a person's psycho-spiritual care and evolution. The profound link between the human condition and beauty was, on the other hand, amply demonstrated during the long period marked by the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic emergency: the isolation and closure of museums, archaeological sites, theatres, clubs, universities and schools had a profound effect on people's lives. Our Constitution has enshrined, among its fundamental principles, in Article 9, the promotion of cultural development, scientific and technological research, and the protection of the landscape and historical and artistic heritage of the Nation, placing these assets at the foundation of national identity. This is done with an awareness of the close connection between the memory of the past and the projection into the future of a country like Italy, rich in history, nature, and culture.Rights, as instruments designed to serve constantly evolving interests and moral values, do not constitute a closed and static catalog but are continually reshaped every day in response to the needs, opportunities, and challenges to which rapid changes (technological, economic, social, cultural, demographic, etc.) continuously expose the lives of individuals and communities. In a society more attentive to the satisfaction of evolutionary needs (the meta-needs, as they have been defined), the aspiration to beauty can claim to become a right, that is, a tool to pursue public wellbeing, improving the quality of life of all and of the disadvantaged, in a manner appropriate to the changing social context. The right to aesthetic experience becomes, in this perspective, a daily opportunity for personal fulfilment, inclusion and social cohesion, comfort and hope. The seminar addresses the topic of the right to beauty, within the perspective of establishing a system for the protection of new rights and the creation of a national system for beauty.
