*European citizens are citizens of European Union (EU) countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden.

** Foreign nationals treated as Italian equivalent citizens are citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and San Marino. Non-EU citizens resident in Italy with a residence card/permit/ for employed or self-employed work, for family reasons, for political asylum, for humanitarian asylum, for religious reasons; international citizens that have lawfully resided in Italy for at least a year and holding qualifications obtained in Italy; international citizens residing anywhere who hold a secondary school diploma issued by a foreign or international school operating in Italy or abroad which is subject to bilateral agreements or special regulations for the recognition of qualifications that satisfy the general conditions required for enrolment for study (see Art. 26, Law No. 189 of 30 July 2002) Political refugees and staff serving in Foreign Diplomatic Missions and in international bodies with offices in Italy (which are accredited by the Italian State or the Vatican) and family members under their care, limited to spouses and children.
