"Full Professor of the scientific disciplinary sector ING-IND/22 - Science and technology of materials at the University of L'Aquila since 1994 and at the Politecnico di Milan since 1997.

He has held positions and institutional roles of primary importance at the Politecnico di Milano, such as:

  • Head of the Department of Applied Physical Chemistry from 1998 to 2000
  • Head of the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering 'Giulio Natta' at the Politecnico di Milano from 2001 to 2007
  • Member of the Academic Senate of the Politecnico di Milano from 2008 to 2010
  • President of the Coordination Centre for Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine at the Politecnico di Milano from 2010 to 2012
  • Co-ordinator of the Laurea Magistrale programme (equivalent to Master of Science) in Design & Engineering from 2012 to 2015

  • President of the Società Italiana Biomateriali (SIB) from 2000 to 2004
  • Member of the General Scientific Council of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) from 2010 to 2012
