Gabriele Basilico Archive: donation to the PolItecnico

Donation of over 300 books that belonged to the great photographer

The Bovisa Candiani Library collection has been enriched by a significant donation of over 300 books from the Gabriele Basilico Archive, dedicated to the great photographer who died in 2013 and graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1973.

With his photographs of architecture, interiors, post-industrial urban scenes and metropolitan landscapes, Basilico has left a profound mark on our visual culture, tracing the memory of the transformations of the city and the territory of his time.

His ties with the Politecnico di Milano remained strong, as is clearly demonstrated by the numerous seminars he led over his lifetime.

The donation includes texts that were part of his extensive university education and volumes that document his great intellectual curiosity, ranging from sociology to design, architecture, urban planning, art exhibition catalogues and travel.
