Description
Day 1: The world of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the modelling of the built environment at the urban level. Day 2: Building Information Modelling (BIM), with particular reference to information management with open standards (IFC) and the relationship between BIM and GIS. Day 3: Building Condition Assessment (BCA) and the built environment. Examples will show how condition assessment data can be stored and used within BIM and GIS software. Day 4: Decision Making (DM). How to use the collected data to make decisions in the field of building management (Asset and Facility Management) Day 5: Closing day built on two moments: first some guests of honour will give short presentations on geoBIM related topics then they will discuss in a round table with participants the work they have done during the previous days
Educational project
Through a mix of theoretical and practical work, participants will become familiar with the concepts of inspection and condition assessment of assets, exploring methodologies for collecting and processing condition data in different contexts. They will link assessment to BIM and GIS, exploring the representation, modelling and management of information about assets and the built environment. They will then use the integrated and interoperable data (from the three different disciplines - AM/FM, BIM and GIS) within a relational database to develop typical use cases from the construction sector
Requirements
The event is open to students from Italian and foreign Doctoral Schools upon registration. Participants will be selected on the basis of their CV and a letter of motivation that they must produce when applying for registration.
