Description of the initiative

The aim of the initiative is to train the participants in group work for the realization of a preliminary design of a space system with a multidisciplinary approach and concurrent engineering. The tool it intends to use is the participation in the annual competition, highlighted thanks to reports from the student association Polispace, and organized by NASA through RASC-AL. (https://rascal.nianet.org/) for the design, by international student teams, of advanced systems for the next space missions. The work will involve strong interactions with a similar team established at the US Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The learning path will be verified through periodic group reviews both on site and remotely with the American team. The criteria for passing the activity will include: - the completion of the technical work through the presentation of a summary document of the project and its rationale - the carrying out of a final presentation relating to the results obtained to be presented to the competition - participation in meetings of progression and verification of the technical work

Duration

dal October 2021 a March 2022

Calendar

18 ottobre 2021

Note

Mixed bachelor and graduate students are welcome, with complementary technical competences.
The initiative focuses on team working for the conceptual space system design, in coordination with a specular team of students from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU).The project development will take place outside the classroom hours which will be dedicated to the progressive revision of the design and addressing from the teachers; it is expected an indicative load of 45 hours distributed over 4 months of competition.
