Description of the initiative
The OpenCoesione Portal (www.opencoesione.gov.it) publishes the data of projects financed by cohesion policies in Italy both with European and national resources in an open format. For each project it is possible to find data relating to the resources assigned and actually spent, to the locations, to the thematic areas, to the subjects involved, to the times and indicators of implementation and to the historical series of commitments and punctual payments. Over 1.7 million projects (with over 200 associated variables) are online and frely avaialble.
On the portal, moreover, it is also possible to find specific analyses called "Focus" on particular thematic areas. Focusing in particular on the "Hydrogeological Disruption" Focus (about 8,000 projects), the participating teams (composed of 3-5 students with multidisciplinary skills with at least one student expert in data manipulation) are required to design and implement a new dataset capable of enhancing the Focus data also thanks to the integration with other datasets present and available online. The new dataset should allow the possibility of representing the data contained on cartographic layers (eg: association with hydrographic basins to be compared with hydrogeological risk maps).
The team that will develop the best solution will be rewarded with a certificate of the victory of the hackathon and with free subscriptions to access all the contents of the website www.osservatori.net1.
