Description of the initiative

Are you interested in urban ecology? Would you like to participate in the design of a biodiversity garden? The workshop we propose is aimed at designing a 2000m2 area in Monza to transform it into an open-air laboratory and promote educational, cultural, and environmental activities with the community. During the workshop, topics related to organisms inhabiting the "third landscape," such as pollinator plants and insects, will be addressed, reflecting on how (human) design can become a practice of care in a multispecies context. The work includes a theoretical introduction to the organisms inhabiting the area and a second part dedicated to space design, envisioning multispecies design scenarios that can promote the use of the garden as a place for meetings, dialogue, and activities on cross-cutting issues. The workshop is in collaboration with the environmental association "Apincittà" and the Special Training Company "Scuola Paolo Borsa."
