Description of the initiative

The Design Sprint 4ETS project aims to create three co-design events dedicated to social innovation themes, conducted according to the design sprint 2.0 methodology, which will take place in three different locations and times: in April, May and September 2023. Topics will be focused on social innovation approaches, design thinking and strategic planning of services, and solutions development with a high social or environmental impact. The project is promoted by Studio SHIFT (www.studioshift.it) Benefit Enterprise, which will organize the workshops; it is made with the contribution of the Lombardy Region. The general objective of the project is to bring together the above mentioned three E.T.S. (Third Sector Entities) with a selection of young graduates with expertise in the areas of Strategic and Service Design. In particular, the project sees the participation of three social enterprises from Lombardy and one from Turin: Alchimia Cooperativa sociale, from Bergamo; Sociosfera onlus of Seregno; and Itaca Social cooperative of Romano di Lombardia working with the MinD association of Turin. The specific workshop "#DS3 - Promotion of mental health with innovative services" welcomes the design challenge launched by Cooperativa Itaca (BG) togethre with MinD - Mad in Design association (TO).In an increasingly changing world, characterized by political, social, and environmental shifts, it is crucial to support the educational growth of adolescents by providing them with innovative educational tools and services that accompany them in their process of identity development, safeguarding their psychophysical well-being.The Design Sprint dedicated to this E.T.S. is part of the new projects in the field of education for minors and youngsters (ages 11-18). The challenge is to envision a new space for adolescents and young people that can become a place for their education (rather than just care), focusing on their mental well-being and psychophysical health. The mission is to create a space that emphasizes protective factors rather than vulnerabilities, offering preadolescents and adolescents opportunities for well-being, self-efficacy, and empowerment.Proposals can include the interaction with digital tools, the structuring of communication campaigns to engage the users, and the development of event formats and additional services to be provided within the space. What are Design Sprints 2.0?The Design Sprint is a process for finding innovative ideas and solving big problems in a few days, helping to define goals and problems in a concrete way and tobuild a high-level prototype tested with real people. The Sprint splits the work in micro problems, and helps the team focus on one goal at a time. The classic version of the method (ref. Knapp in the text "Sprint: how to solve big problems and test new ideas in just five days." - 2016) involves 5 phases in 5 days of work, while the project will use the "rapid version", called Design Sprint 2.0, which optimizes times and makes the process more effective; also re-adapted it according to the operational possibilities of the E.T.S. adherents and to the hybrid use chose to allow greater accessibility by the young graduates participating. All the activities will be in Italian language, in order to partcipate a proven skill at least at B1 level is needed.Further information on the project is available on the website www.designforsocial.it
