Description of the initiative

The course aims to promote additive printing not as a means of prototyping but as a design tool to produce innovative and original objects that exploit the peculiarities of digital fabrication and the properties of the materials used. During the course, the basic concepts of FDM additive printing and the slicing process will be introduced, as well as tips & tricks on how to achieve certain mechanical and aesthetic results. It will be a two-day intensive course focused on teaching design for additive printing by making the most of the strengths and constraints of this technology. To do this, participants will receive a project brief that includes the integration of standard connective elements (such as nuts, inserts, magnets, clamping elements, etc.) to create joint-elements with different purposes. At the end of the course, they will have the opportunity to produce their designs at the Polifactory and present the design results in a collective moment.

All activities will take place in Polifactory, Building B3 (Timetable: 9.15 AM to 6.15 PM)
