Lonely Planet

What is it?

Lonely Planet is an Australian publishing house that publishes travel guides all over the world; in Italy the volumes are translated and published by the EDT publishing house in Turin.

The first book, Across Asia on the Cheap, came out in 1973 when Tony and Maureen Wheeler decided to describe their long journey through Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan to India and Nepal. The book immediately sold thousands of copies and became a reference for young travellers.
