Martinitt theatre and cinema

What is this?

Martinitt was born in 1531 thanks to Francesco Sforza as a center for abandoned children in Milan. The headquarters were near San Martino parish, from which the orphans took the name of “Martinitt”, little Martini. Since the study of the arts was fundamental in the children education, the Martinitt theatre was inaugurated in 1932 and continued its activity until the mid-1970s. In 2010 the company "La Bilancia" took over the management, opening its doors to the general public. In February 2015, the cultural offer expanded with a cinema hall.
