POLI.RADIO VINCE LE CUFFIE D’ORO 2015

3 november 2015

POLI.RADIO, the Politecnico students’ official radio station, has won a prestigious award: the Cuffie d’Oro (golden headphones) 2015, University Radio category.  The Cuffie d’Oro (fifth edition of the Gran Premio della Comunicazione Radiofonica e Non Solo awards) is the only national-level radio award and one of the top accolades in the world of the Italian radio.

We didn’t expect to win such a major award! This prize is the result of our constant work over the last few years. We’re a good team and a big family motivated by the values of enthusiasm, volunteering and the desire to experiment and express ourselves

agree Emanuele Campagnolo and Daniele Bellè, technical director and artistic director respectively of POLI.RADIO.

Emanuele tells us how POLI-RADIO originated:

In 2007, I wrote a message on the forum www.studentipolitecnico suggesting the set-up of an online radio station. I immediately discovered that there were other students who had the same idea and also shared my passion for music and communication, so our project took shape and soon became a reality. The first live broadcast went out on 14th December 2007. In the beginning, our radio transmissions involved some 20 students but there are now about 60 of us, divided into several departments: artistic, technical and editorial/special events.

Continual musical exploration is the cornerstone of POLI.RADIO, which promotes and raises the profile of little-known or up-and-coming bands and singers who get little airtime on mainstream FM radio which focuses primarily on the latest hits from the English-language scene. POLI.RADIO also hosts independent bands, who play live electric sets on a weekly basis.

Daniele continues:

Our radio is free, both in its artistic choices and from the political and commercial factors that govern the big FM radio stations. This means that any student wishing to get involved in POLI.RADIO can contact us, create their own format and join the editorial team, playing the role of producer, or deal with the more technical aspects. They’ll then receive full training on every area involved in radio work.

POLI.RADIO is on air, continuously streaming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from the studio at the headquarters on Piazza Leonardo da Vinci. The music sessions are punctuated, generally in the late afternoon, by programmes dedicated to music, entertainment and culture. The current schedule can be found on the website poliradio.it

We aim to reach all students through our music and programmes, which is why we broadcast many events, such as Open Day, Universiday and MI/ARCH, live”, concludes Daniele. “We’re a very strong and close-knit group, and social networks are helping us to grow through content sharing: you can listen live on our website or via the TuneIn app (for mobile), follow POLI.RADIO on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, participate on air via Whatsapp, and listen to our playlists on Spotify and the podcasts of our broadcasts on the Mixcloud platform.

There is a magical atmosphere in the studios of this radio station. The recently-won prize is an important achievement but also a starting point in view of two imminent challenges: the new POLI.RADIO website featuring news, interviews and music in a brand-new format, and the new POLI.RADIO Xtra channel, aimed at those who follow urban, hip-hop, electronic and R&B music and culture.

Just one click will take you from POLI.RADIO to POLI.RADIO Xtra.

Stay tuned!
