Established in 1983, the Bioengineering PhD program at the Politecnico di Milano is one of the largest in Italy and most important for the quality of research. The PhD program trains researchers capable of developing methods, designing devices and systems in the biomedical and healthcare fields.
It’s a multidisciplinary program. The PhD projects cover a wide range of topics, from the analysis of bioimages, signals and clinical data to the development of procedures for radiotherapy techniques, the study of human-robot interaction in surgery, omics data analysis, development of lab-on-chip or haemodynamic models for the prediction of adverse events, and the analysis and development of new biocompatible materials. Activities include advanced courses and research periods in national and international institutes. PhD students on this program are appointed to the departments of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering department or Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta”.
