Descrizione
A method for transporting multiple optical signals wherein the said signals are transmitted exploiting at least two optical spatial modes. The transmission in enabled by a conversion unit FM-MUX comprising a FDM selection interface and an optical interface configured for receiving and transmitting multiple signals in multiple frequency subcarriers using the FDM principle driving an E-O converter in order to transmit the FDM signals over a plurality of optical modes.
The conversion unit FM-MUX is adapted to select the proper mode inside the optical link and FDM subcarriers according to pre-determined criteria between a plurality of bands and said plurality of optical modes and FDM subcarriers.
Campo di applicazione

High datarate optical link exploiting the modes to augment the data-rate

Optical link support of radio access networks (RAN)

RAN-fronthaul for high datarates

Vantaggi
The claimed solution allows great flexibility in transporting a plurality of RF channels over a limited number of modes and FDM subcarriers that reduces the intermodal cross-talk of the transported signals, or minimizes their consequences for the transported signals.
