Descrizione

The school is co-organized by COST Action CA18214 "The geography of New Working Spaces and the impact on the periphery", Department of Architecture, Built environment and Construction engineering (DABC), Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DASTU) at Polimi, with Dipartimento di Eccellenza Fragilità Territoriali and the Real Estate Center of DABC Polimi. The course targets students and researchers. Partecipants can have the opportunity to freely access to the Evento di Formazione Permanente "Planning, Design and Management of Workplaces - Theory and Case histories of coworking space", that will take place late afternoon, after the end of the school's lessons. The nature of work has recently evolved, along with the way workspaces are used. This dynamic has important implications especially for the design, management and location of workspaces that must respond to new challenges. This course will help students and researchers to confront these new trends. Through lectures, group work and virtual visits to different types of workspaces, participants will have to develop an innovative workplace strategy for an important company as VODAFONE Italy, also taking into account the impacts of Covid-19 on these issues. The complete course offers the opportunity to develop a company coworking and, subsequently, to prepare a design brief for the new corporate spaces.

Progetto Formativo

The aim of the course is to guide participants in developing the following main skills: 1) integrate different disciplines in a coherent reasoning around new places of work; 2) explore the location factors of new workplaces and the effects on workers' performance and on the urban context (regeneration); 3) manage the planning, programming and execution phases of a workplace modification project; 4) prefigure the future evolution of the workplace.
