Polisocial

Polisocial is an academic social responsibility programme launched in 2012.

Polisocial, in line with various international experiences, sets out to keep the University abreast of the dynamics of change in society, extending the University's mission to include social issues and needs that arise from the territory, both locally and globally. Polisocial inaugurates a new way of building and applying knowledge and academic excellence, placing social commitment alongside the two traditional pillars of academic activity: teaching and research.

Polisocial promotes and encourages a new multidisciplinary approach to projects, taking into account human and social development and expanding the educational, exchange and research opportunities offered to the University and its students', young researchers', teaching staff and technical-administrative staff's network. The aim is to promote a responsible attitude and to develop capacities, skills and values in future generations of professionals and citizens, helping them become more and more aware of and prepared to respond to ethical challenges.

Polisocial in favour of society: the programme helps to reformulate relationships between the University and the geographical areas in which the academic institution operates, bridging the gap between research, higher education and the territory's social needs. Polisocial is rooted in an interdisciplinary approach to social innovation and cooperation geared towards development, enriched with the specific knowledge and skills of each educational area of Politecnico, promoting responsible practices of sustainable and fair development in local and international contexts.

Polisocial in favour of new generations: the programme participates in the renewal of the University's research and teaching activities, building new opportunities for exchange between teachers, students, technical-administrative staff, local communities, non-profit bodies and public institutions. Polisocial sets out to create new areas of expertise that are modelled "on the field" and "in practice", with the aim of training professionals and researchers capable of producing social change and contributing responsibly to the improvement of the living conditions of the communities, both local and international, in which they operate.
