Architecture, technology, sustainability: the new challenge

12.11.2021

A conference that is part of activity by the Constructability and Sustainability Workshops of the project in the Architecture and Urban Design Study Programme:

  • Introduced by Prof. Domenico Chizzoniti (study programme coordinator)
  • Talk by Pierluigi Turco, SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merril)

This conference is part of the New European Bauhaus interdisciplinary initiative, which intends to foster dialogue about the requisites that buildings must have to be energy efficient without however neglecting the aesthetic and social aspects of their surroundings. It is an opportunity for proving that it is possible to create sustainable buildings that can interact with the planet’s urbanscapes and ecosystems, but also for stimulating regenerative approaches inspired by the natural cycles that restore resources and protect biodiversity. In this direction, the multidisciplinary nature of SOM may help to define new practices and solutions for achieving the objectives laid out in the New European Bauhaus.
