First graduates of the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School
On 24 June 2026, the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School, established by Xi’an Jiaotong University and Politecnico di Milano, celebrated the graduation of its first cohort of students in Xi’an, China.
At the end of a four-year programme, 105 students were awarded the degree in Engineering – Industrial Design from Xi’an Jiaotong University and the degree in Industrial Production Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the history of the Joint School, which was inaugurated in 2022 and now offers three degree programmes, with two additional programmes set to begin in the coming academic year. Designed and delivered by faculty members from both universities, the programmes are distinguished by their innovative and interdisciplinary nature, integrating key areas of expertise from both institutions.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of Politecnico di Milano involved in the collaboration project: Sergio Pignari, Rector’s delegate for the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School, Flavia Grassi, Venanzio Arquilla, Diego Scaccabarozzi and Fausto Brevi. In their remarks, they emphasised the value of this pioneering initiative, which has enabled students to develop solid theoretical and design skills in a multidisciplinary context, alongside an international and intercultural mindset.
