Politecnico, the best possible choice. I followed my instinct and rankings

Chiara Caruso is 24 years old and comes from Taranto. She is one of the 16 recipients in 2025 of a scholarship dedicated to the memory of Roberto Bertazzoni, who passed away last year. A donor to Politecnico di Milano for many years, Bertazzoni helped support the Master’s degree programmes of many deserving young people. Today, his heirs have taken up the baton, continuing this important initiative in support of the talents of the future with dedication. A gesture that brings together memory, value and vision.

Caruso is enrolled in the Master’s degree programme in Management of the Built Environment at Politecnico di Milano, as part of an internal dual degree with Urban Planning and Policy Design: a path that combines technical expertise, strategy and urban vision. “Coming from Southern Italy, I was fascinated by Milan and Poli was one of the best possible choices. I followed my instinct and rankings,” explains Chiara, who found Milan to be a stimulating and open environment in which to learn and grow.

She looks to the future with honesty and curiosity:

I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up. I don’t yet have a precise direction, but one goal I care deeply about is one day contributing to the redevelopment of the industrial area of Taranto, my hometown. In particular, hoping for favourable political and economic developments, rethinking the post-Ilva area in a sustainable way that benefits the community would be a meaningful achievement for me.

Her family has also played an important role in her journey. “My parents have supported me throughout my university career, and the thought of being able to give something back now makes me very proud,” she concludes.
